More than 100 Wake County staff and students have tested positive for coronavirus in one week, according to the district’s coronavirus dashboard.
Sixty-nine students have tested positive for coronavirus from Dec. 10 to Dec. 16, and 59 staff have tested positive.
The first coronavirus cluster was also reported within the district at Lynn Road Elementary School. Three staff and two students tested positive from the school.
The week before — from Dec. 3 to Dec. 9 — more than 80 cases of the virus were reported across the district.
Most of the cases are across multiple different schools in the district, according to the dashboard. The Wake County Board of Education agreed on Tuesday with a staff recommendation that all students revert to remote-only learning to finish the fall semester.
All students will move to online learning from Jan. 4 until Jan. 15, when the semester ends.
Since Thanksgiving, Wake County has seen an increase in reported cases of the virus. On Wednesday, more than 400 cases were reported in Wake County. That same time last month, only 232 cases of the virus were reported in a day.
